LV-IMC Tech Collective Mission Statement (Who we are and What we do and don?t do)
The Las Vegas Independent Media Center (LV-IMC) Tech Collective is the group of folks responsible for maintaining the technology related to LV-IMC. Some of the participants involved with the collective know more about computers and other related technology and others know less. Some participants of the collective don?t know or care about technology, don?t know how to use e-mail, couldn?t stop the 12:00 flash on a VCR yet all of us, techno-skilled or not, want to stay connected and informed about all parts of the LV-IMC project.
We hold regular meetings so that those interested in learning more about the technological side of the LV-IMC project have a place to ask questions and make comments. We do this because we believe in the importance of the IMC project and recognize how important the technological side of the project is to its success as a whole, i.e. it?s important to have a website and we need as many people as possible to know how to maintain, change, and fix it.
Our direction comes from the other LV-IMC collectives and working groups. There are some things that we are not going to be able to implement exactly as presented, because some things are not technologically possible at this time.
We are responsible for:
Our main goal is to enable everyone to become effective media producers.
