On Wednesday, October 6th the Ralph Nader campaign is sponsoring a demonstration against Bechtel, a major war profiteer and operator of the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage site.
Bechtel is a major corporate criminal that profits from war and the pollution of our environment. Bechtel has built most of the nuclear reactors in the U.S., and now is being paid billions of taxpayer dollars to manage the storage site at Yucca Mountain. Billions more are going to Bechtel for its role in "rebuilding" Iraq.
Join us outside Bechtel's Las Vegas offices at Losee Rd and Energy Way on Wednesday, October 6th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to protest Bechtel's corrupt practice. The demonstration is being organized by Nader for President 2004, and is an attempt to bring discussion of anti-war sentiment back to the foreground.

No doubt, Bechtel is also involved in a lot of deplorable activities and should be roundly condemned.
But, how many people reading this know that in 2000, Nader running-mate Winona LaDuke criticized Al Gore because Gore's MOTHER owned stock shares in Occidental Petroleum, which company was trying to develop oil rights on land owned by the indigenous U'wa Indians in Columbia.
Later, it turned out that RALPH NADER his ownself owned about $250,000 worth of shares of the FIDELITY MAGELLAN FUND, which in turn owns 4,321,400 shares of Occidental Petroleum.
What's up, Ralph?
The Fidelity Magellan Fund -- a mutual fund in which Nader is heavily invested, holds shares in the following companies (I am listing the company name, the sector, and the number of shares):
Raytheon - Defense Contractor - 777,080
General Dynamics - Defense Contractor - 2,041,800
Boeing - Airplane Mfctr/Defense Contractor - 24,753,870
British Petroleum/Amoco - Oil - 27,753,870
Exxon-Mobil - Oil - 28,751,268
Shell - Oil - Unknown number
Sunoco - Oil - Unknown number
Texaco - Oil - Unknown number
Chevron - Oil - Unknown number
Halliburton - Defense Contractor - Unkown number
Bristol-Myers Squibb - Pharmaceuticals - 15,266,900
According to Salon.com, Nader once told the Washington Post, "The corporations are planning our future. They are making sure [our children] grow up corporate. The kids are overmedicated, militarized, cosmetized, corporatized. They are raised by Kindercare, fed by McDonald's, educated by Channel One."
Yet Nader failed to mention that he owns HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SHARES in another stock fund that owns 15,694,800 shares of McDonald's stock.

Salon.com did a big expose' article on Ralph Nader's stock holdings. The article is archived on the site. Also, this is common knowledge and was reported in the Washington Post and other papers. Finally, you can check exactly what's in the Fidelity Magellan Fund by going to their website or asking an investment advisor.
