Halprin must go!

Jason Halprin should resign immediately as an administrator of this site

Jason Halprin has proven his unfitness as an administrator of this site. For one thing, he has posted vicious personal attacks upon me, using profanity and abusive language, in violation of this site's own criteria of treating other Indymedia members with respect. Not only that, but his underhanded attempt to subvert internal democracy within the Peace Coalition earlier this year reveals how sinister his true motivations are. I demand that he immediately resign as a site administator!

Now that I've resigned ... when are we going to get some feature articles going here?

PEOPLE????

Steve,

I don't even know you, but I heard you burned a flag an NY, NY Hotel and I like that. But I am incensed when trifle discord escalates into legal threats. So now I am forced to take time from my homework to raise some questions.

Would a "true leftist" exploit the very system they opine dissent, i.e. how can one defile systemic problems like the letigious nature of society and then threaten a lawsuit. What happened to the days when men and women could talk about their differences of opinion and not threaten to sue?

Perhaps you are the one who should be sued for slandering the Global Social Movement. All who contrive to inspire derision and disunity within the social movement can be much more dangerous than the enemy we are fighting against. Try checking into your higher consciousness sometime, maybe you'll see we are all on the same side.

I see character defamation like this: #1 If somebody resorts to petty insults, you have already won. #2 If you know the allegations aren't true, then why should you give a damn.

If you got beef with Jason, Mike, Me, anyone... don't hold it in. Get it out. This website is the very platform that allows for freedom of expression without the influence of the state apparatus. How dare you try to bring the trojan horse into our sacred city!

Now kiss and make up kids, we got work to do.

Logynn

Dogfights, but who holds the kibble?

Well said Log, a quite distiguished distiguishment of something burning other then a flag.
Jay, as usual, the government could learn a lot from your verbal defense

So, It all seems we are revolutionairies looking for a revolution. What better way then to practice on ourselves? There is always a better battle if we fight together. I may not be on the frontline, but I am not on the sideline, covert units deployed.

Dogfights, but who holds the kibble?
by Alex Wednesday October 29, 2003 at 11:42 PM

I didn't see my comment connected, so I am repeating it.

Log, a well distinguished distinguishing of a flame out of control. I wouldn't be surprised if such hot headed people would incriminantly proove their hard-ass ness by attempting to assinate the president (OH! put this one on your black list big brother!...mother..f..)

Jason, as usual, your character defense is something the government could learn from, then maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't have so many enemies. Halprin, Good show, I got your back, I wonder what Lofton is thinking?

So, it looks like we have many revolutionaries looking for different revolutions. What better way then to battle each other for sport? We are not living on the training camp though, our battles are better fought together. I may not be on the frontline yet, but I am not on the sidelines. Covert Units live in deployment, looking for the right loop hole.

On The Hampton-Halprin Dispute
by Donald Rilea Thursday February 19, 2004 at 05:55 AM

Hello, all. This is the first time I've been to this site, though I've heard about it before through some fellow anti-Iraq Adventure protesters some time back.
Just happened to to stumble across this particular set of messages about the whole Hampton-Halprin dispute.
Having read Steve's letter to City Life , several months back, which castigated the local anti-war movement for being weak and ineffectual, compared to its Bay Area brethern, I can understand, if not entirely sympathise, with his reasoning.
On the other hand, I've no real problems with the way Halprin, Peck, and everyone else handled themselves.
Nevada(and I mean the WHOLE state, not just the Las Vegas Valley)has been, and continues to be, a largely conservative society.
Even the more risque elements of our societal make-up(gambling, prostitution, legal and othewise, and strip clubs)are VERY tightly controlled here, and let no one here forget that.
So, any dissident movement here has to walk a very fine line between expressing one's beliefs, peacefully or not, and inviting a clamp-down by the authorities, as well as vigilante-like private citizens acting in the name of "patriotism", "protecting America", what have you.
All in all, I think the course of the anti-Iraq Adventure protests could have generally gone much worse hadn't Halprin, et al, not pulled off that balancing act as successfully as they did.
Aside from a few minor incidents, including a near-fight at one of the New York, New York demos in which Yours Truly and counter-demonstrator(whom, I subsequently heard from various friends and acquaintances, was living in a homeless shelter, and had been hired by the producers of Bumfights to appear at the demo for the grand sum of twenty bucks)nearly mixed it up.
If it'd hadn't been for Halprin and another gentleman, whose name I cannot, alas, now recall, there would have been an altercation that would have resulted in the local movement getting a black eye, along with yours truly. As for the other guy, I won't speculate on whether or not he would've got hurt or no.
Anyhoo(takes a short breath here), I, like the correspondent to whose post I'm agreeing with, feel that it is important to get interpersonal disputes within the movement out in the open, but there is no need for profanity and threats, legal or physical.
If the dispute can be worked out amicably, great. If not, then perhaps the best strategy that could be exercised by both disputants is mutual avoidance.
I know, it's tough to do in a numerically small movement like this 'un, but, it ain't impossible.
It also doesn't mean that if one sees the other at a demo, that one or the other should leave in a diva-like huff("I WON'T work with that Man ever again!!!"), but simply avoid contact with that person during and after the event., that's all.
Not always easy, but it works so much better than curses, lawsuits, and black eyes, no?
Well, I think I've rambled on enough about this, so it's for me to yield the floor to someone else on this topic.
To the Good Folks at Las Vegas Indymedia, thanks for giving me the chance to post my poor comments on this issue. Will definitely be returning, though I'll try not to be so long-winded next time.
Also, want to say hello to Jason Halprin, and to thank him for his Comradely Behaviour at that demo. You saved me from getting hurt or killed, or at the very least arrested, and, if I didn't express my gratitude sufficiently then, I'd like to now. Thank You So Much.
One last thing:Steve Hampton, it seems, has gone missing. The correspondents at his Yahoo Group, newsocialistparty@yahoogroups.com, myself included, have noticed that he hasn't been on since the 7th of this month. His e-mail in-box at his Yahoo account is jammed full, and his phone is apparently off the hook.
We're a bit worried about the Old Boy(combative as he may be).
So, if anyone has any info about Steve, his current whereabouts, and how he's doing, please do the very great favour of dropping me a line at the e-mail address enclosed with this message, or gimme a yell at the telephone number enclosed.
Also, if anyone out there just wants to chat, rant, rave, joke around, etc, etc, you can can contact me those ways too.
Comradely Yours, Donald Rilea.
