FNB Las Vegas, the ACLU of Nevada, and Gail Sacco are going to Federal Court to challenge a city ordinance which requires a permit for gatherings over 25 in public parks. In the approximately 64 city parks, only 14 are reservable according to the city of Las Vegas. The ACLU feels this is a major stifling of free speech and assembly...

For about a year now the local chapter of Food Not Bombs, an anti-war group that serves free vegan food to the hungry, has been targetted and harassed by both park marshals and local police.
Gail Sacco, among many other volunteers, share food with homeless, working poor, and other people in the Las Vegas community every day at 2PM at Huntridge Circle Park- located on Maryland Pkwy, just South of Charleston.
Open mic free speech, soccer games, tree-climbing, and protesting for homeless peoples' rights have been common activities at these gatherings.
But now, as repression by the state has escalated, Gail Sacco and another woman are being charged with breaking the law. And, the ACLU is ready to fight for the side of the people.
According to the ACLU of Nevada, any organization or individual who has been threatened with arrest, citation, or 86'ing from the park- for trying to help the needy- has legal standing and can join the federal lawsuit as plaintiffs.
