Just yesterday there was a vigil at Las Vegas City Hall for James Lewis who died last Thursday after being tasered twice.

"The death is the third one this year to occur after police used a Taser on a suspect and the sixth such death since the Metropolitan Police Department began using the devices as an alternative to lethal force more than two years ago."

This is becoming a common occurence. And as we know, the coroner's inquest is biased. And, since 1976 no valley police officer has ever been held criminally liable for on-duty deaths.

When a coroner's inquest found two police officers criminally negligent for killing Darryl J. Taylor in 1976, the verdict was overruled by a Clark County grand jury.

So, we can guess that the outcome of the next two coroner's inquest will be the same.

Also, it should be mentioned that at least two out of the three recent shootings, the victims who were shot were mentally ill. And in both cases, mental health professionals were not called or were not called soon enough.

We need accountability. This biased coroner's inquest procedure has gone on too long.

The victim on September 30th was tasered to death. The man who was shot in the face this past Friday in the desert is still living as far as we know.

Both had mental illness.
